The Best Way to Avoid a Mold Infestation After Glenwood Springs Flooding
When flood waters overwhelm your home, your best course of action is to contact SERVPRO for water removal and remediation services.
The Importance of a Strong Response to Flood Damage Claims in Glenwood Springs
Flash flooding can be caused by heavy rainfall, adverse weather conditions or storms, causing unprecedented levels of damage to your personal property. Usually, nearby road drainage systems become overloading and begin to spill out onto the street and into nearby residences. Flood water is at high risk of cross-contamination from raw sewage, animal carcasses, herbicides or other potential pathogens. That is why booking a professional restoration service is essential.
Properties with flood damage in Glenwood Springs rely on local services for rapid recovery. SERVPRO operates locally but has access to national resources allowing us to bring in truck-mounted extractors and submersible gas pumps to remove standing water fast. When an initial assessment reveals the presence of Blackwater (contaminated water), we can remove and dispose of BioHazard substances by OSHA regulations.
Standing water of above 2 inches in height can be removed using gas-powered pumps and are extremely quick at removing water and limiting loss. With excess water removed, we can move in using portable extractors. These are accurate vacuum powered dryers with heated wands that help us to reach difficult to access areas around the home. These advanced wands can dry between floorboards as well as crawl spaces.
When fabrics become wet, they are up to 50% weaker than when dry. For that reason, SERVPRO prefers to use lighter drying equipment several times over the same spot to avoid causing damage during cleanup. We may need to pull up carpets so that we can thoroughly dry both sides and apply anti-microbial treatments to avoid secondary damages from mold growth. We live and work in this community and are happy to share easy to apply preventative techniques to lessen flood damages when they occur.
The longer standing water is left, the higher the chances are of permanent damage. Mitigate the loss with SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties. Arrange a service by dialing (970) 618-1516 anytime day or night.

You Can Count On Our Team To Restore Your Mold Damaged New Castle Home
Mold spores usually stay unnoticed in New Castle homes until it has spread over a large area.
Remediating Mold Damage In New Castle Homes
Mold spores usually stay unnoticed in New Castle homes until it has spread over a large area. Too many people depend on that ‘musty’ odor, but that is too late, and not all mold generates a distinctive smell. By this point, the mold spores have expanded into a large colony.
Remediating the effects of mold damage to a New Castle requires a professional agency. Every SERVPRO office maintains restoration teams trained to the industry stands as required by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC) to safely clean and remove mold from each residence.
Team members first determine what type of surface the mold has damaged. A quick inspection determines what tools and cleaning methods they need to use and how much time they need to finish each task. Affected surfaces usually divided into three categories: porous, nonporous, and semi-porous.
Examples of porous surfaces are building materials like ceiling tiles and fabrics such as curtains and upholstery. Our teams can usually clean fabrics with the right chemical and a stiff brush, but if the mold has had time to grow into the surface of the ceiling tiles, it is often cheaper to dispose and replace them than waste labor and supplies attempting to restore them. Technicians can also use vacuums with HEPA filters designed to capture even a single mold spore off surfaces like curtains and upholstered items like sofas.
Nonporous surfaces are easier to clean. With items like glass and metal tabletops and marble slab kitchen countertops, SERVPRO team members can remove the mold with dry cloths and sponges. They wipe them down from top to bottom to ensure they remove all active spores. For thicker mold layers, technicians may use a cleaning agent to break them up for easier removal.
Semi-porous surfaces often require methods and tools simply not usable other surfaces. Concrete patios and wood floors may require team members to use abrasive cleaners and wire brushes that would damage glass to get into the cracks and crevices to remove all of the spores. If the mold penetrated the surface of the wood, technicians might have to use hand or power sander to remove the uppermost surface layer to get rid of it.
Stopping and removing mold from your home is not an easy or quick process. With the right tools and IICRC training, SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties can return your home to a clean, safe condition as quickly as possible. If you need our services, call us at (970) 618-1516 today.

How to Restore Your New Castle Home From Minor Fire Damage
Even a small fire causes a lot of damage. SERVPRO has the training and experience to restore your home to its original condition.
Any Household Fire Damage In New Castle Needs Professional Remediation.
The relief you feel when an unexpected fire in your home quickly extinguishes can fade if the cleanup afterward is inadequate. Attempting to manage the tasks needed after what seems only to be a minor fire is never as straightforward as a homeowner wants to believe. One of our core services is fire restoration. Let us return your home to “Like it never even happened.” condition.
Fire damage cleanup in New Castle needs a professional touch to be successful. When our crew arrives, be assured you are partnering with a well-qualified and equipped team of experts. Cleaning after a fire is a different sort of challenge than the efforts required for normal soiling or everyday wear and tear. Our professionals can restore fire damage using techniques mastered during IICRC training and products and equipment specially formulated or designed for the task.
Fire damage residues are toxic, exposing those who clean and restore to the risk of harm. SERVPRO technicians train to complete soot and odor removal efficiently and safely. We know how disruptive it is even to consider a move-out during restoration procedures. Our crews always strive to contain the smoke and soot damaged areas, permitting you and your family to remain in the home while we do our work. Physical barriers and modern equipment like negative pressure air scrubbers prevent debris from invading the rest of your living space as we do our work.
It is crucial that soot removal happens swiftly after a home fire. The residues left by fire are highly acidic and begin to damage all building materials and personal possessions immediately. The SERVPRO crew moves confidently and quickly through your fire-damaged home, understanding how the smoke and soot moved ahead of them. We match cleaning methods to the type of soot soiling we observe in your home. Our training and experience ensure fast and appropriate solutions that halt the progressive damage and prepare the surfaces and items affected for the final restoration.
Our technicians have equipment at their disposal that homeowners do not. SERVPRO crews have the skills to recover the function and appearance of items you might believe ruined. We help save memories and avoid replacement costs.
SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties is ready to respond to your request for fire damage restoration round the clock. Call us at (970) 618-1516 to schedule an evaluation regardless of the size or duration of the fire.

What SERVPRO Can Teach You About Gutter Maintenance For Your Glenwood Springs Home
Water damage in Glenwood Springs is often linked to aging or damaged roofs and gutters.
Avoid Water Damage In Glenwood Springs With Fall Gutter Maintenance
As the seasons change homeowners in Glenwood Springs, have the opportunity to limit interior water damage by completing routine home maintenance and making plans for emergency water loss. September is National Preparedness Month, the perfect time to review and inspect the exterior drainage systems of your home for areas of weakness. If water does invade, we can help with remediation and restoration.
Water damage in Glenwood Springs is often linked to aging or damaged roofs and gutters. A sound and secure roof is your first defense against the rain, sleet, and snow our area experiences at different times of the year. The gutters and downspouts attached at roof edges should direct the precipitation off the roof, down to the ground, angled away from the foundation. If any part of this system does not work as intended, water can enter your home, causing damage to the structure and contents.
SERVPRO often finds and restores precipitation-related water damage in attics or lower levels, the issues surprising homeowners who did not notice obvious leaks. Gutters that fill with leaves, sticks, and other debris, including granules from asphalt shingles harmed by hail, wind, or heavy rain, can become clogged with these materials. During rainstorms the blocked gutters and downspouts overflow. Some water might push under shingles and make its way into the attic framing and rafters. Water that gushes over the gutters pounds into the soil, saturating the ground next to the foundation of your home, eventually seeping through and into your basement or crawl space.
Scheduling an inspection and then arranging for the cleaning and repair of poorly draining gutters and downspouts should be an autumn ritual. Waiting or ignoring the issues risks further damage from ice dams when the temperatures fall below freezing. An ice dam forms when the melting snow cannot drain because of clogged gutters. As the trapped water freezes, it pushes up on the edges of shingles, forcing moisture inside. SERVPRO crews know to look for gutter issues when staining makes its way down walls. Foundation moisture problems likewise link to broken, clogged, or inappropriately attached gutters and downspouts.
SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties often sees the damage clogged, broken, or loose gutters and downspouts cause. We can restore the issues caused by water damage and help arrange for repairs to the drainage system. Call (970) 618-1516 to set up an appointment for an assessment.

The Real Truth About Possible Secondary Mold Damage After Water Damage in a Glenwood Springs Municipal Complex
If your municipal building has an incident that calls for water cleanup, call team SERVPRO to arrive timely and mitigate the damage.
Water Cleanup Services for Your Glenwood Springs Municipal Building
From obtaining construction permits for the immediate area to allowing residents a place to air their grievances to authorities, your Glenwood Springs municipal building stays busy through its operating hours. Unexpected incidents can threaten your ability to provide the full scope of the services and departments available to the public, even with dedicated maintenance and custodial staff available.
While you might look to situations of water cleanup in Glenwood Springs as tasks that the custodial team at your building could handle, there are several considerations that you must make in this scenario. The first of these is the speed with which this staff can get to the problem at hand and clean it up. The longer the problem persists, the more problems that it could cause and the longer it remains a threat to the safety of those using affected areas of your building. Choosing professional water cleanup services from our SERVPRO team can help to get the situation resolved quickly.
A persistent, lingering safety hazard of water damages present in your building is a bad situation with the foot traffic you anticipate on a daily basis. Even without the possibility of injury, secondary effects like mold growth can occur in as little as three days. This situation poses an even more immediate risk to the staff and traffic throughout the building exposed to an active, growing colony.
Another consideration that you need to make is the thorough nature of services like our SERVPRO team can provide. From moisture detection equipment to thermal imagery software in tools, we can ensure that moisture present from the incident gets wholly dried up. This assurance not only eliminates the likelihood of mold growth, but it also can help to preserve the strength and integrity of building materials that became affected by the water.
While smaller scale water incidents in your building might seem best suited for the custodial staff, water can spread quickly and affect many areas out of the immediate line of sight. Trust in the experience and equipment of our SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties restoration specialists to help you ensure that the job gets done correctly. Give us a call 24/7 at (970) 618-1516.

Post-Fire Flood Damage Assistance in Glenwood Springs
Glenwood Springs Flooding? Contact SERVPRO for Water Removal and Restoration
Flooding Disasters in Glenwood Springs Properties Require Professional Help--Call SERVPRO
The aftermath of wildfires near Glenwood Springs does not end when the flames extinguish. Severe rain and thunderstorms build in the mountains and threaten the already devastated landscape with flooding. Homeowners who breathed sighs of relief when the fire veered elsewhere now struggle with walls of relentless waters and the harm they do. You need our trained technicians and commercial grade equipment in your corner.
Flood damage in Glenwood Springs is often better managed if we work with the homeowner to pack out personal possessions, window coverings, documents and memorabilia, and furnishings. Achieving water removal and structural drying moves more quickly if the portable contents of your home are moved to a dry area elsewhere on your property or to our production facility. Rigorous inventory and tracking systems ensure we keep track of your property. Advanced training in cleaning, sanitizing, and drying means we save many articles, regaining both function and appearance.
The SERVPRO crew members at your home then concentrate on a swift and thorough process of water removal. Flood waters typically contain contaminants ranging from chemicals picked up from the surrounding ground to sewage or animal debris. We offer containment and hazardous waste disposal options for our customers. Once we extract tainted fluids, including hidden pockets of floodwaters that we discovered using advanced scanning equipment and moisture meters, we choose EPA registered disinfectants to destroy any lingering pathogens.
To avoid progressive water-based deterioration and secondary microbial growth, SERVPRO crews then thoroughly dry out your home. We base our drying goals on moisture measurement we continuously check. A balance of air movement, heat, and dehumidification is found and maintained eventually bringing the affected building materials back to normal moisture levels.
If any of the flooded spaces are carpeted, SERVPRO crews might attempt an aggressive extraction approach. Contamination concerns suggest we consider removing the padding, a relatively inexpensive way to hasten the drying while decreasing the chance of residual hazardous substances. New padding and a thoroughly dried and disinfected carpet minimize the expense of replacing an expanse of wall to wall floor covering after flood damage. This above procedure is only possible if the water is not Black Water. Often, we must dispose of the padding and carpets, safety first.
SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties prepares for the challenges of flood damage remediation after wildfire. If you survive the flames to be nearly drowned in flood waters, call us at (970) 618-1516 to schedule an assessment.

How to Spot Mold Growth in Your Silt Home
Silt Property Owners Know Their Homes Get Great Mold Remediation from SERVPRO
Silt Homeowners Rely on SERVPRO for Mold Remediation
Taking care of your Silt residence means staying aware of even the slightest of changes. Your home can communicate with you to indicate when something is amiss, and these signs can often help you diagnose potential problems that could occur or might already be happening. For example, understanding the conditions and warning signs for mold growth can help to prevent or more readily remediate this occurrence.
When Silt property owners think of mold damages, they often do not fully understand how this episode even happens, let alone how to prevent it in the first place. One of the first things that you need to know is how mold growth can happen, namely, what conditions must get met to support this colonization. For mold spores to develop, moisture is necessary. This requirement is why our SERVPRO technicians find mold growth in places like your basement.
Darkness is not a requirement, but a lack of natural light does allow for mold colonies to spread more rapidly between organic materials. One thing that is a requirement is warmer temperatures, which are often readily available in the basement of your home. Some species can flourish at the freezing mark. Most houses have the heating and cooling units in this lower level, offering plenty of constant temperature for mold to seat and spread.
Our SERVPRO professionals can help you to remediate this occurrence in your home when it gets discovered, but many homeowners do not always know what to hunt. Active colonies tend to give off a musty odor often, and so even if you cannot see a colony, this odor could indicate one growing and thriving out of sight. Another symptom that you can look out for is spotting on surfaces like drywall. These could initially appear very faint, so thorough inspections throughout potential problem areas with a flashlight can help you find these colonies before they spread out of control.
If you do discover mold growth in your basement, reach out to the professional remediation team we have at SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties. We can help you to preserve the structural integrity of your home from this destructive force, and work efficiently to reduce and ultimately remove the health risks associated with mold colony exposure. Give us a call anytime at (970) 618-1516.

Hot, Dry Conditions Increase Risk of Fire Damage in Silt and Other Areas of Garfield County
Fire damage, regardless of the cause, is destructive. Call SERVPRO for remediation efforts if your home ever experiences a fire.
Team SERVPRO Understands That Remediating Fire Damage Also Includes Dealing With the Remaining Water Used to Put Out the Fire
The daily reports of wildfires in many areas of the country concern residents of Silt. Wildfires are a powerful force of nature, capable of taking down entire communities. Even with the controlled prescribed burns authorities attempt before high wildfire season, residents must be vigilant. Wildfires are a reminder of the destruction any fire can do. If a fire from any source affects your home regardless of precautions, our trained and experienced fire damage restoration technicians can help.
When fire damages your Silt home lining up professional remediation services must occur sooner rather than later. Even though the stress and confusion of surviving a fire can interfere with calm and reasonable reactions, the residues left behind after a household fire cause immediate and progressive damage to all types of structural components and contents. Our highly qualified technicians are ready to take action swiftly to clean up, restore, and deodorize your home after any fire.
The first task SERVPRO crews usually take on when called to a fire scene is water and chemical extinguisher removal. Firefighters do not stint on the resources used to put out the fire, but the water and powdered or foam left behind pose their own dangers. Just a film of water and powdered fire deterrent chemicals cause a slip and fall hazard. Inches or feet of water are not unheard of in firefighting circumstances, saturating building materials and exposing restorers to electric shock risks. Evacuating the water and drying the structure avoids the deterioration and secondary damage moisture brings about before the fire damage remediation is even considered.
Once the water damage issues stabilize, SERVPRO crews assess the harm done by the flames and the smoke and soot that spread through your property. Soot can be sorted into three main categories, and each requires a different approach for cleanup to be most effective. Light, ashy soot from fast, hot-burning fires often responds well to vacuuming and dry sponging. Thick, sticky soot from a smoldering electrical or textile fire can need a surfactant or wetting agent application and perhaps some agitation or abrasive action with appropriate tools to loosen up enough to be wiped away. Protein fires deposit thin, challenging to remove coatings that are almost invisible but smell strongly. Abrasives and solvents are the pair of choice, stripping the residue food and grease fires leave.
SERVPRO of Garfield & Pitkin Counties cultivates a team of well-trained experts to attend to your fire damage scenarios. Whether a wildfire jumps a firebreak or your dinner preparation goes horribly wrong with a grease fire call (970) 618-1516 for assistance from IICRC certified technicians backed by innovative products and equipment.

Glenwood Springs Property Owns Depend Upon SERVPRO for Fast and Efficient Water Removal
Flooding from storms and municipal utility emergencies are devastating but are not daily occurrences in Glenwood Springs. Other types of water incursions might be happening right now in your residence, unnoticed but capable of causing severe damage over time. The highly-qualified technicians on our water damage teams are up to any challenge.
Little leaks that build over time are much more likely to cause water damage in your Glenwood Springs than one catastrophic event. Do not make a mistake and believe that the puddle of water you see on occasion under the sink is an isolated incident or that the peeling on the wall is just evidence of a low-quality paint. Catching water incursions early is crucial to preventing the deterioration of structural components and avoiding secondary damage such as mold growth. Our employees are trained to identify water damage in its many disguises.
SERVPRO pinpoints the source of the water damaging your home so repairs to eliminate the leaks or seepage can be arranged. Then our crew chief assesses the damage and designs a plan to remove any standing water and dry out the affected spaces thoroughly. We search for hidden water under cabinets and between walls, the migration of moisture often the reason that small leak seemed minor. Our truck-mounted pumps and wanded extractors pull the water out, sometimes with the help of holes drilled or sections of drywall removed to release trapped caches in cavities. If a ceiling appears buckled, we punch holes carefully to free any reservoirs captured above a room or hallway.
Our employees are expert at employing moisture sensors and meters as well as thermo-hygrometers to establish baseline moisture and temperature levels in the damaged building materials. The collected data helps establish drying goals, and periodic use of the tools throughout the project informs us when sufficient drying is complete. Air movers, heaters, and dehumidifiers are positioned and operated to create a balance that coaxes water saturated inside structural components to move into the drier air where the dehumidifiers condense and contain the moisture for disposal.
